Central District completed an undefeated home season with a 28 point victory over second-placed Sturt Blues, which also completes a set of victories over every other side in 2007.
In spite of winning its sixth minor premiership of the 21st century, Saturday night's win at the Ponderosa ensured a clean slate at home for the first time this millennium, the only other two times the club has achieved the feat was in 1988 and 1995. Read more... |

| 4 TIME PREMIERSHIP PLAYER CALLS IT A DAY! |
| |
QUINTON GRAHAM has decided to retire from League football following several recent knee operations which will not allow him to continue playing without pain and swelling.
Quinton, a local product from Paralowie, made his League debut in 1999 at the age of 18. The enigmatic Quinton Graham has surprised many that he did not get drafted in his early days.
Since 1999, he has amassed a impressive record:
115 League games
91 Reserves games
2000 Inaugral Premiership Player
2001 Premiership Player
2003 Premiership Player
2005 Premiership Player
Represented South Australia versus Western Australia
Represented South Australia versus Victoria
Quinton has been dogged by shoulder and knee injuries throughout his career, and finally succumbed to knee problems and made the decision this week after frustrations in attempting to return to League football.
A certain character with exceptional ability, his attack out of defence will be sadly missed. |

| Savings & Loans Tour de Heart |

Graham Manou (Dogs supporter & Redback), Ryan Harris (Dogs supporter & redback), Paul Rofe (Redback), Gary Putland (Redback), Steven Busbridge (Dogs supporter & Northern Jets), Andrew Eime (Eagles supporter, ex Redback and Woodville) & Michael Manou (Graham's brother) are riding from Alice Springs to Adelaide to raise funds for The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Research Foundation – Cardiac Unit.
The ride will officially finish at Hamra Homes Oval just prior to the start of the match between Central & the Eagles.
We ask all supporters, members, sponsors, friends and family of the Club to come down and welcome the boys home and donate a gold coin to the cause.
It will be a great night at Hamra Homes Oval with the big Grand Final rematch taking place so come down and cheer the boys and welcome home the boys from the Savings & Loans Tour De Heart.
Date:
Thursday 7th June to Sunday 24th June 2007
Distance:
Alice Springs to Adelaide, 1543km
Aim:
Raise $100,000 for cardiac research with The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Event Organisers:

Casey Hall, HyAust 1300 400 444
Sandy MyHill, TQEHRF 08 8243 1101
Background:
When Graham Manou was eleven years old he was diagnosed with a heart condition – Ventricular Septial Defect – a hole in his heart. He started studying Marine Biology, but due to his heart condition he could not get a scuba diving license. In order to do this and progress his career, he will need to have open heart surgery – something he just couldn’t face as a 28 year old – but something he will have to overcome at some stage in his life.
As he is fit and healthy, his condition has had minimal affect on his life, but Graham knows he is lucky and is really motivated to help others less fortunate than he. As such he has gathered some of his friends (see below) and decided to ride from Alice Springs to Adelaide to raise money for cardiac research with The Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital is Australia’s leading research facility into the causes, prevention and cure of Heart Disease. Alarmingly 24,000 Australians die each year from heart disease, so the money we are looking to raise will definitely benefit many Australian families.

Central District Bulldogs showed a lot of character to come from behind and defeat South Adelaide Panthers by 21 points at Noarlunga on a bitterly cold day last Sunday.

| Round 10: Alarm clock wakes Dogs |
| |
Centrals 15.12(102) def. by Sturt 17.7(109)
It wasn't exactly alarm bells which were ringing after Central District Bulldogs suffered their first loss of the season, when going down to Sturt Blues by seven points at Unley Oval on Saturday, but an alarm clock to give a timely wake-up call.
Several times this year clubs have matched Central in patches, but the Dogs always have turned it on to pull away at crucial times and win, but on Saturday they met a stubborn obstacle, and although having plenty of moments, failed in the end.
No team has gone undefeated in a SANFL season since before World War I, so a loss had to eventuate, although going down at Unley was a strange experience for Central, as it hasn't lost at the ground since 1985, which is made up of seven straight victories since 1999. Read more... |

| Round 8: Bulldogs keep on keeping on |
| |
Centrals 16.7(103) def. North 10.8(68)
Central District Bulldogs broke the club record for consecutive wins to open a season when it defeated North Adelaide Roosters at Prospect Oval by 35 points last Saturday, for seven in a row.
The victory kept the club's undefeated run since 1997 at Prospect alive, and has evened the all time ledger between the teams at the ground to 20-20 with two draws. Overall, the Bulldogs have won 24 of the past 26 games against North since last losing at Prospect.
Mooted as a premiership threat this season, North Adelaide lived up to those expectations until an unanswered nine goal haul from 10 minutes into the third term, when trailing by 19 points, Central exploded to make its mark on the game.

| Round 6: Dogs boil over |
| |
Centrals 23.11(149) def. Norwood 13.9(87)
Central District Bulldogs proved its own worst enemy early against Norwood Redlegs in last Friday night's clash at the Parade, but boiled over in the last quarter to boot 11 goals for a 62 point victory.
Frustrated with over-umpiring in the first half, especially in a 10 minute period through the second term, the Dogs trailed for most of the first three quarters, before finding top gear and powering away.
If Norwood had kicked straight to open the first quarter, the task of overhauling the Redlegs may have been more difficult, as two easy misses were costly.
But then Central suffered a case of the yips with three straight behinds, energetic Matthew Slade missing twice. Justin Westhoff stood tall to finish off for the Bulldogs first major... Read more... |

| Round 5: Bulldogs turn back the clock |
| |
Centrals 15.12(102) def. Glenelg 12.7(79)
Central District Bulldogs turned back the clock and wore its famous white strip from the 1980s against Glenelg Tigers at Elizabeth last Saturday, but came away with a modern day result, victory by 23 points.
Wearing the white guernsey from 1979 to 1991, Central played 293 games for 143 victories, 146 losses and four draws. Saturday's win closes the overall record to two off evening the slate.
Early in the game the Bulldogs looked like the team of the 80s, which only won 10 of 26 clashes through the period against Glenelg, but in the end remained the dominant force of the 21st century against the Tigers – now 17-2 ahead, and undefeated at home since 1992.

Round 5 will see Centrals take on Glenelg at Hamra Homes Oval. The Bulldogs will compete in the famous "white" guernsey worn from 1979 to 1991. Players like Wilbur Wilson, John Platten, Peter Vivian & Peter Jonas gave this guernsey a proud place in all our hearts.
The match-worn guernseys will be auctioned on eBay to raise funds to support our junior football program in the northern community. The auction will begin on Monday the 7th of May. |

| Round 4: Beware of complacency |
| |
Centrals 23.13(151) def. Eagles 11.3(69)
Central District Bulldogs looked awesome in last Wednesday's Anzac Day 82-point demolition of the Eagles at Thebarton Oval, but it is still early days, and the club must beware of complacency.
Of the Bulldogs' past seven grand final appearances, the one year the club looked a monty to win the premiership was in 2002, when it appeared unstoppable, but fell to Sturt in the big game.
With the way Central has opened this season, the main issue to address is not to get too far ahead of itself, although the manner in which the side is performing, there looks little chance of it happening.
The last time the Bulldogs played at Thebarton Oval was the final minor round game of 1988 against West Torrens, which resulted in a 50 point victory. Read more...

| Round 2: Bulldogs take two |
| |
Centrals 16.14(110) def. South 7.9(51)
The differences and the similarities of the current Bulldogs contrast well with recent years, as the 2007 model of Central District won its second consecutive home game to open the season, dishing out South Adelaide Panthers a 59 point hiding. So many passages of play were reminiscent of the Dogs recent seasons' work, yet the personnel instigating the successful team structure are accomplishing the goal with a new and invigorating style. Paul Thomas has played 88 games for Central District and was awarded the Magarey Medal in 2004. He is also a two-time premiership player in 2003 and 2004. He played for Essendon in 2005 and was vice-captain of Centrals last season.
Matthew Slade is last year’s Norm Russell Medalist (club best and fairest) and has played in 5 premiership sides (2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005) and has represented South Australia in 2002 (vs Victoria) and 2003 (vs Western Australia).
The club congratulates Paul and Matthew on their appointments and thanks Nathan for his leadership in 2006. Assisting Paul and Matthew as Vice Captain is two-time premiership ruckman Jason Mackenzie.

| Centrals video clips |
| |
To compliment the return of the "Hicks era" guernsey in Round 5, CDFC will be releasing a series of video clips from the 80's featuring the famous white guernsey. The plan is to release a clip each week, so CDFC fans can return to the 80's throughout the season. |

| CDFC v Northern Jets 20/20 Cricket Match 2007 |
| |
On Sunday 4 February, Central District Football Club will take on Northern Districts Cricket Club in a Twenty20 match to be played at Salisbury Oval. The game will commence at 2pm, following a have-a-go session for boys and girls which will commence at 1pm.
The Jets’ Redback players Mark Cosgrove, Graham Manou and Ryan Harris will be available and keen to atone for last year’s defeat at the hands of the Bulldogs. |
 |
If last year’s game is anything to go by, there will be some big hitting, sharp bowling and electric fielding by both teams. Bulldogs Coach Roy Laird has his players primed for this return match and will go into the game full of confidence.
Barbecue and bar facilities will be available and everyone is welcome. Admission is free. |

| 2007 CDFC Membership packages |
| |
Dear Supporters,
With the 2007 season upon us all the players at Central District are grateful for your interest in supporting the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs have contested EVERY grand final since 2000 to put five premierships under our belts. But by no means does the hard work stop there. In 2007 Central District footballers will proudly wear the red, white and blue and represent your club and your community. As our success has grown so too has the challenge to stay at the top. It’s a challenge we’re all willing to make sacrifices for. It’s a challenge we thrive under. It’s what makes playing for Central District an honour. We need your support this year for Centrals to stay a force in SANFL football. Every little bit helps and every little bit is appreciated. That is why membership is so important to Central District. This amazing club is as much about you as it is about the players.
U Dogs!
