CDFC versus PA – Only 4 games versus the Port Power reserves side (Home & Away)

The Dogs have played the Port Power reserves on only 4 occasions since the AFL reserves sides were entered into the SANFL.
Strangely enough the Dogs and Port have only played rounds 9 and 16 in both seasons – and now the ultimate challenge awaits as they front up in a first semi-final.

Centrals have won 1 and Port have thrice conquered the Dogs. Centrals only winning margin is 3 points in the Round 16 encounter in 2014, while Port’s 3 victories have been by an average winning margin of only 13 points.

Each side have won 8 quarters a piece over the 4 encounters.

Over these 4 games  Centrals have converted at 59.3% for an average score of 12 goals 8 behinds (80), while Port have converted at a better rate of 62.8% whilst averaging 14 goals 8 behinds (92).
The Bulldogs and Port have only each exceeded a 100 point score, when the ‘Dogs were victorious last year in round 16 by 3 points, kicking a score of 104 to 101.
The largest winning margin in the games between the Dogs and “new” Port SANFL side was the last game in round 16 this year, when Port prevailed by 17 points at Alberton.

CDFC versus PA – The Finals History

The Dogs have played Port Adelaide in 14 finals and have won 3 and lost 11 heading into the sudden death encounter at Adelaide Oval on Sunday. Never before in the history of both clubs have they played a first semi-final against each other.

The ‘Dogs enter their 9th overall first semi with a 4 wins 4 losses record, and will be desperate and hungry to beat Port for the first time in a final since prevailing by 45 points in  the second semi final of 2005.

Centrals overall finals record stands at 32 wins, 26 losses – after the elimination final triumph over Norwood last week.
