CLUB MOURNS PASSING OF PAST PLAYER - ALLAN ‘CASPER’ MUIR

The Club is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of one of our past League players in Allan ‘Casper’ Muir.

Allan, an extremely talented indigenous half forward, on-baller, was recruited from Darwin in 1966 at the age of 16.

In that year, he played in the Colts Premiership, defeating Woodville by 17 points.

In 1967, he made his League debut at 17 years of age.

Allan’s playing record at League level:-

            1967                League debut – 2 games

            1968                11 League games

Most promising Player Award – Second Eighteens

            1969                18 League games

                                  League Best Team Man Award

            1970                8 League games

            1972                7 League games

                                  46 League Games, 51 Goals

In 1970/1971, Allan was conscripted into the army and was sent to Vietnam. This had an unsettling effect on Allan which resulted in him returning to Darwin.

It was a huge move for Allan to move to Adelaide from Darwin as a 16 year old, not knowing anyone, and at times, this was difficult for him.

However, Allan was a tremendously talented player, and as a half forward / on baller at 6’2” and slightly built, he was an excitement machine and a joy to watch.

Casper, as he was affectionately known, was a popular team member who was loved by all of our supporters.

We convey our sincere condolences to his family and friends, and he will be fondly remembered by all Bulldog people during his period with the Club.
