Harbs' Rant - September 2015

HARBS’ RANT – END OF SEASON 2015

From a playing group perspective we are very disappointed about missing out on a Grand Final berth. To scrape into finals and then get the exposure of 3 tough finals to our young list is something that will hold us in good stead for our 2016 preparation. I can guarantee that only very few people would have thought we would go as far as a Preliminary Final. Our entire playing group and coaching staff had the resilience and faith that our hard work throughout the year could transpire into finals results which showed. Our next step is to have every individual return in good health and raring and ready to go in Mid-November for the start of pre-season. Starting the 2016 much better and trying to finish in Top 3 is essential to trying to achieve the Ultimate Success.

The first thing I would like to say is a massive thankyou to all members/supporters that turned out in thousands for our 3 finals games. Every single one of you deserves a pat on the back – the “UUUUU DOGS” and “CEEEEENTRALS” chants make the hairs on every players neck stand up and hearing your support throughout the year, and especially in the finals series was fantastic!

Secondly, I would like to thank all our trainers, physios and officials that rarely get the thanks that they deserve. These fantastic people are the heartbeat of a football club – whether it is in the AFL, SANFL or at grassroots level. Without their hard work we would not be able to operate. We have over 40 volunteers and to every single one of you from the entire playing group thank you very much – the work that you do is appreciated immensely!

Thirdly, to every single person behind the scenes at CDFC that assists in every way from the fundraising officials, Ladies Auxiliary, administration staff, underage officials/trainers, past players, junior football volunteers, Board of Directors and the list goes on the entire club appreciates what you do for us and thank you to all of you.

To all of ‘my brothers’ on the playing list – the bond that we share and the infectious nature of being involved in a footy club that is a family orientated club makes the sacrifices we put throughout the year worthwhile. I have the upmost respect for all of you and am proud to call CDFC home and cannot wait to get stuck back into pre-season 2016!

Lastly, I want to pass on a big thankyou to all families, wives and girlfriends for the constant support you provide to all the players, coaching staff, trainers, officials and volunteers. Every single one of you contributes to why CDFC is such a great environment to be around and a great family club!

Have a great X-mas and New Year break and we will see you all in January/February 2016 with new recruits’ updates and any special news!
