The Club mourns the passing of Life Member, Jack Middleton

The Club mourns the passing of Life Member, Jack Middleton.
It is with deep sadness that the Club mourns the passing of Life Member Jack Middleton who passed away on Thursday, 21st September 2017.
Jack’s involvement with the Club is unique in that he became involved when he moved to the northern community from Sydney, NSW with employment in the early seventies. A staunch Rugby League supporter, he knew nothing of the game of Aussie Rules.
His first involvement was as a casual barman in the Footballers Club which he worked for many years. It was during that period that he came to appreciate and follow the Doggies.
Following his retirement as a bar person, his interest in the Club became stronger and his involvement in the Club’s Past Players and Officials Association is legendary.
As Secretary of the Past Players Association, he built up a fantastic rapport with many of our Past Players and Officials. Jack was a quiet achiever, and his great public relation skills was respected by all who made contact with him.
Jack’s involvement as an official was as follows:
1974 League Room Steward
1987 – 1992 Secretary Past Players & Officials Association
1993 – 2016 Secretary / Treasurer Past Players & Officials
Association
Life Membership was awarded to Jack in 2015.
A great man with strong principles, the Club would extend its deepest sympathy to Maureen and the family.
