Harbs' End of Season Rant

Some people have said it was an amazing effort it was to scrape into into finals from where we were.
At the end of the day, we shot ourselves in the foot because of a poor 2-8 start and cost ourselves a shot at going deeper into September.
Our goal at the beginning of the year was to finish top three and we didn't achieve that.
The final against Sturt was a tough uncompromising game, in which Sturt, like they have in every grade, proved that they are the benchmark football club in the SANFL.
Our entire playing group and coaching staff had the resilience to become more competitive in the last half of 2017 and turn our season around.
The main characteristic that defines individuals in our wonderful club, from players to support staff, coaching staff to supporters, is CHARACTER.
As a club, we will stick together and strive to become the absolute best.
I've said this before, and I will say it every year I am involved in football for the rest of my life: thanks to all of our trainers (especially head trainer, Daniel Bell), physios, doctors and officials who rarely get the thanks that they deserve.
These fantastic people are the heartbeat of a football club – whether it is in the AFL, SANFL or at grassroots level. Without their hard work we would not be able to operate.
We have over 40 volunteers and, to every single one of you, from the entire playing group, thank you very much.
A special mention must go to Liz, Cathy and Roger, who are volunteers at the footy club.
They spend a lot of time assisting the club in various ways.
To all the families, wives and girlfriends, thanks for the constant support.
You are the rock that supports every one of the players.
Without your love and support, we wouldn't be able to live the lifestyle that we do.
Thanks to everyone at the CDFC who assists in every way, from the fundraising officials; Ladies Auxiliary; administration staff; underage officials/trainers; past players; junior football volunteers; Board of Directors; and the list goes on - the entire club appreciates what you do for us and thank you to all of you.
Lastly, to all my mates who I have the privilege of spending 11 months of the year with, I love you all.
I got emotional writing this because I have so much love for my team-mates and know that we can all drive each other from taking our footy club from good and return it to great.
I've been so lucky to be a part of two wonderful football clubs in Ganmain Grong-Grong Matong Football Netball Club for four years and the past nine years at CDFC.
I will sign off by saying that in the Chinese Calender, 2018 is the Year of the Dog. Let's make that come true.
To all of our wonderful supporters, especially those who stick by us through thick and thin, have a great Christmas and New Year break and we will see you all in 2018.
